Characters From Films And TV Shows Who Would Have Been Great MUNers

By Shaan Mirchandani

We have all seen movies that take us on the edge of our seats to TV shows in which we have shed tears for hours and hours. TV shows and movies take us to a whole new world of emotions, goosebumps, and a ton of fun! And we can all agree that the enjoyment of watching movies and TV shows is like no other. Today, I am going to present to you 6 TV shows or movie characters that would be great MUNers. You may ask, what is a MUNer? A MUNer is someone who attends Model UN conferences as a delegate. The essential qualities of a MUNer are eloquent, public speaking, debating, and creativity. Of course, there are more, but I feel that these are the most important qualities for a MUNer. Now back to the topic at hand, let's find six TV show or movie characters who would be great MUNers.

(This isn’t an order from worst to greatest or greatest to worst, these are just the 6 characters whom I feel are suitable for MUNing)

6. Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)

Hermione knows how to use magic really well, but not just that, she is the smartest among the students in Hogwarts and a skillful witch. Right off the bat when she reached Hogwarts, Hermione managed to solve Snape's potion logic puzzle. This implies that she was quick-witted even when she first got into Hogwarts and was a logical thinker too. Additionally, in the second book, she was the only one who figured out the monster within the chamber of secrets and how to find the entrance. However, she isn’t able to tell Ron and Harry as she is appalled by the basilisk. Fortunately, in time she wrote a hint on the Basilisk and saved the day. I think Hermione could be a great MUNer by using her logic to outwit her opponents and solve problems fast and effectively.

5. Barry Allen (The Flash)

Barry Allen, also known as ‘the Flash’, surprisingly has some qualities possessed by a MUNer. The famous DC tv show ‘the Flash’ portrays the struggles Barry has to face while facing villainous speedsters. Moreover, his fast decision-making and power over other foes are some of his qualities and what thrives him to do well in situations. On the other hand, he protects his city (Central city) therefore, knows how to speak eloquently to his fellow citizens and they can rely on him and look up to him as a leader. This tells us that he is a brilliant public speaker and can convey his points forward confidently whether it’s in a MUN or a city.

4. Sheldon Cooper (Big Bang Theory & Young Sheldon)

Since the age of 9, it has been stated that Sheldon possesses an IQ of 187. Additionally, he attended high school at the age of 9 as shown in the spinoff of Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon. What’s more, is that he attended college at the age of 11 and graduated at 14. Sheldon is usually logical in most of the scenarios that he is in. For example, when he was young, he didn’t agree with some of the viewpoints of a few adults and hence had debates with them. This indicates that in a MUN he could argue and challenge other delegates, he would also win the debates primarily because of his IQ and logical decisions. Furthermore, one of the traits he possesses is having an eidetic memory, with this he can remember all the previous events and make a logical and systematic decision based on the events taking place. Besides that, he doesn’t let his emotions take over even when he is angry in several situations. On the other hand, he is usually calm and rational. In my opinion, Sheldon has the necessary qualities for a MUNer.

3. Michael Scofield (Prison Break)

The show starts with Michael’s brother Lincoln sentenced to death for a crime he didn’t commit. Subsequently, Michael creates an innovative plan to get Lincoln out of prison. He obtained a jail sentence by robbing a bank so that he could work out his plan in jail. He also builds alliances throughout his journey. Finally, his plan works out and he helps six prisoners escape along with his brother. I believe that based on his creativeness he could think of several different creative ways to solve problems in a MUN. Additionally, he may also be able to gain alliances from his persuasion and cunning nature. In conclusion, Scofield is quite creative and intelligent hence, I feel that he could be a MUNer.

2. Tony Stark (Iron Man)

Stark was born into a wealthy family, but to rise to the top, he worked very hard at whatever he did and was brilliant technically too. His abilities revolve around STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) He also used STEM to upgrade his armor, with the help of STEM his armor can give him superhuman strength and durability, flight, and an array of weapons. Evidently, Stark is quite intelligent too. On top of that, He is strongly willful, doesn't work well with any authority other than his own, and will enthusiastically tear down just about anyone who challenges him. The last few sentences point out that he is ambitious and aggressive. It hints that, he won’t give up without a fight and is willing to go an extra mile to succeed for his country as a delegate.

  1. Sherlock Holmes (Sherlock Holmes)

Sherlock is extremely smart and his IQ is around 200. His occupation is a private detective and his power of deduction to solve problems, and understanding and predicting human behavior makes him quite astonishing. An example of this is when he accurately describes Dr. James Mortimer, without ever having met him, simply by looking at his walking stick. He stated, “There emerges a young fellow under thirty, amiable, unambitious, absent-minded, and the possessor of a favorite dog, which I should describe roughly as being larger than a terrier and smaller than a mastiff.” This suggests that, he can anticipate the decisions of fellow delegates based on their behavior and appearance. I think we can all agree that Sherlock Holmes is suitable for MUNing.

In conclusion, these are the 5 Tv shows/ movie characters that I think would be suitable for MUNing.
