Bhakti
Director of Press
Eternally eager to edit the next article and come up with the next idea, Bhakti is the glue holding the Press team together. Although she may seem quiet, every now and then, if you’re lucky enough to be present, she’ll express one of her iconic one-liners and have you doubling over in laughter. If you were asked to classify her as the jack of all trades or master of one, you will be in a dilemma, because her talents span far beyond MUN: an avid musical watcher, baker, rapper (you can call her B-dawg if you want to get on her good side) and napper, she’s an essential part of the press team.
Malvika
Director of Press
Widely known as “the sweetest fluff to exist”, this Press head is your go-to for when you need help with literally anything. Seriously – her talents are so vast, as is her desire to help, that she will never say no. Malvika is also the human embodiment of Sunflowers, Pop- Music, Smiles and Little Miss Sunshine and you’re probably going to be on her “good side” without having to do anything . Not only does she spend hours on end working (mostly last minute though), creating spotify playlists (stalk her) and going on long walks (I want to add something here but Malvika has not allowed me:( ), she also focuses her positive energy to help people around her. Malu holds her ground with emotional and rational thinking along with her warm embrace of every challenge she faces.

This Press head is a huge softie who has an absurd passion for organising and planning events. She’s the one to go to if you have a creative block; she’s always willing to help out! Pro-tip: get some ice-cream (dairy-free!) with you!

Charge D'Affaires
Without Jana and her infinite Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, UNiS would disintegrate. She exemplifies the phrase “a pen is mightier than a sword” with her italicised and bold emails, capable of making the POTUS shiver. Her ability to think on her feet, plan meticulously, and accommodate everyone is the reason our huge band of chairs, co-chairs and logis got anything done (including these introductions).

Fondly called by a variety of nicknames like ‘Jhun’, Anirudh is crazy about math and physics; you’ll probably see him build a complicated robot at some point in time. The only thing stronger than his claims would be his passion for the issues he’s interested in, and how he advocates for the problems he wants to solve.

While she can seem quiet to those who don’t know her, Samaa has the uncanny ability to juggle millions of extra-curriculars while Taylor Swift blares in the background like it’s the soundtrack to her life. Don’t underestimate this head girl veteran’s ability to win an argument either.

Alina’s smile lights up any room, and her writing can make you laugh or cry out loud. Approachable, eager, and filled with endless kindness, Alina always has the time to help.

Nayantara is the human version of Little Miss Sunshine, but don't let this fool you. Armed with baked goods and an inexplicable fervour for Shadow and Bone, Nayantara is a literary powerhouse who is guaranteed to sweep you off your feet with her way with words.

Dhruv
JCC Director- North Korea
Dhruv is generally known for asking the most intriguing yet random questions in class, so be careful delegates, because that’s literally his job this weekend! One thing to learn from this chair’s days as a delegate is that confidence in your ideas will really set you apart. Pro tip- this chair will appreciate a skinny tie or any opportunity to talk about diving. While Dhruv might seem serious, he’s probably the most likely to support your most ludicrous ideas.
Hamza
JCC Director- South Korea
Trust me when I call Hamza meticulous, it is believed that he did nearly 1000 past papers to prepare for the IGCSEs. A theory about Game of Thrones or Stranger Things will get you on this chair’s good side. Hamzu enjoys swimming, math, chemistry, and debating (obviously!). He is also ecstatic to be attending UofT with the head of press(Bhakti) this fall :) (PS- If you don’t fear death feel free to use The Hamzicle as your zoom background)

This chair can be bribed with a skittle or two, but don’t let his sense of humour fool you- his arguments can be quite deadly. Also, keep in mind that he will be sure to advocate for you and give you a confidence boost if you ever need one.

You may know her as the studious senior with the long hair, but here’s a secret: she’s a proper Bawa riot who loves rap as much as classical music, has an enormous sweet tooth, and won’t eat anything but rice for school lunch on some days (there’s no meat in it for her, what do you expect?)

Navya’s summer-y personality and constant laughter mask her ferocious MUNing abilities; she is sure to be the one to catch you out on flaws in your argument. She’s also your go-to for a dusky chai chat, for her love for chai and sunsets is unparalleled.
Kahaan

A deadly combination of a football fanatic and a quintessential gujju, Kahaan understands strategy better than anyone. Be it a Messi vs Ronaldo debate, or a high stakes economic discourse- you can count on Kahaan to make his point heard- and how!
