Look at the world around us- there is constant hate, terrorism, war, crimes such as murder, stealing, lying and innumerable other problems. How do you think all these problems have come into being? The answer to this is quite straightforward and simple, it is the wrongdoings of humans that have resulted in these major world issues.
No one is born with a bad heart. Take the example of any infant and see how pure hearted they are. But as we grow up, depending on our surroundings we get shaped as a person. People change with time, and it is in their hands on whether they want to be good at heart or not. However, the harsh reality is that people often make the wrong choices. Most of the time, feelings and emotions such as greed and selfishness come in the way and cloud our judgement.
Let’s reflect on some of the major events that took place in history. The Holocaust, even though Hitler was doing good in his mind, showing somewhat good intentions, his actions evidently show that he was not a good person. Like someone famous once said, actions speak louder than words. Anne Frank, a young victim of the holocaust quoted, “in spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” However, I believe that this statement and her diary show how mature she was in her thinking and how if she would’ve survived the holocaust, she would have a different opinion.
On the other hand, people say it is important to look at the person’s intentions from their point of view. Take the instance of terrorists. From their perspective, they do it for their religion but what they do is unforgivable. Hurting people and threatening them is wrong and makes terrorists bad at heart.
Although there are a lot of people with “good hearts” in the world, that does not mean everyone has one. Your goodness depends on your choices and the reason behind those choices.
