10 Random Things to Do Instead of UNiS

Let’s face it – MUN isn’t always the most interesting thing you would like to do on the weekend. A whole day of moderated caucuses and frantically writing out paperwork would take its toll on any student. To that end, here are a few things you could do instead of MUN.

  1. Play some fun games on your laptop .

The internet is a wonderful place with some of the best, most pointless games you may ever encounter. There are so many options available to the bored MUNner to keep themselves awake while others ramble on about war with South Korea.

  1. Snack on something (preferably menti).

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And also all the other meals. And all the times in between meals. All of the utmost importance. This press delegate would heavily recommend munching on some snacks to serve the dual purpose of keeping you alert and satiating your appetite.

  1. Watch some television maybe?

I’d be a hundred percent sure your chairs aren’t going to call on you before distracting yourself with some nonsensical Netflix original. The major downside to this particular activity is the constant fear you’re unmuted while Paris Hilton tries to cook in the background.

  1. Listen to some music.

Calming music is always a great alternative to the determined voices of delegates. Or maybe some heavy metal to get you in the mood for a particularly passionate speech? Either way the right music could make this the perfect UNiS.

  1. Have a formal clothing fashion show with your friends.

What’s the point of dressing up and wearing your best blazer to sit in front of your laptop? To make it all worth it, have a fashion show with your fellow delegates. Use your top-notch MUNning skills and fashion sense to claim the title of best dressed!

  1. Take a quick nap

If you’re tired of the tedious activity of staying awake – why not just switch your camera off and go to sleep for a moment? If putting your video off doesn’t seem to be an option just put some sunglasses on and close your eyes or simply strategically place your head out of the frame.

  1. Stare out the window

Count the number of leaves on the tree or weirdly watch a stranger go about their day when committee gets a bit too dull (although that is unlikely with all the wars and whatnot).

  1. Have a staring competition with your fellow delegates over zoom.

Staring competitions are always fun especially when your gaze intimidates your fellow delegates. The last person standing may not actually win anything, except for the ability to gloat, but it’s the perfect thing to make committee even more interesting.

  1. A word game.

Pick a word and see which delegate can use it the most number of times in their speech. Another friendly competition to have on top of spirited debate.

  1. Origami is always fun.

For those that just can’t stop fidgeting or find it hard to focus unless their hands are busy, origami is a great option and something you can do while listening to committee. Just make sure you aren’t folding up any important notes.
